For this journal assignment we were tasked with creating a drawing from a base image. The base image I chose was a picture of my dog. I used the curve and point drawing tools to generate this final image then took the line work into Adobe Illustrater in order to change the line weights.
I wanted my final image to be a bare representation of the shape of a dog. I took some inspiration from the technique of continuous line drawing. You'll see below I attempted this technique but wasn't entirely pleased with the final outcome.
For my chosen final image I changed the line weights in the areas shadows are present. I experimented with the brush tools and found the ink and watercolor brush tools had the visual effect I wanted. I am very pleased with the final drawing I created, I believe it is a playful graphic that is able to captures some of my dogs personality just in the line work. Next time I might try to create a graphic solely based on just the shadow lines or try to use very minimal line work.
